This Garlic Bread Pizza recipe transforms classic garlic bread into a delicious, cheesy pizza loaded with pepperoni and melted mozzarella. The combination of garlic butter, pizza sauce, and savory toppings baked on crusty French bread makes for a perfect appetizer or meal, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Butter

  • ½ cup salted butter (softened)
  • 6 garlic cloves (finely minced or pressed)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Main

  • 1 pound French bread (or Italian bread)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 8 ounces low-moisture mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 15 pepperoni slices
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (to garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400℉ (204℃). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking.
  2. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the softened salted butter, finely minced garlic cloves, and chopped fresh parsley until well combined.
  3. Slice Bread: Cut the French bread in half lengthwise to create two long pieces, similar to preparing garlic bread.
  4. Apply Garlic Butter and Bake: Spread half of the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut side of each bread half. Place the bread pieces cut side up on the prepared sheet pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes to toast the bread lightly and melt the butter.
  5. Add Pizza Sauce: Remove the bread from the oven and spread ¼ cup of pizza sauce evenly on each bread half.
  6. Top with Cheese and Pepperoni: Evenly distribute the shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, and parmesan cheese over the pizza sauce on each bread half.
  7. Bake Until Cheese Melts: Return the sheet pan to the oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the bread turn golden brown.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the bread pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2 to 3 minutes. Optionally sprinkle with red pepper flakes, extra parmesan, and chopped fresh parsley. Slice and serve while warm.

Notes

  • For extra crispy edges, broil the pizza for 1-2 minutes at the end, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute pepperoni with other toppings like olives, mushrooms, or cooked sausage.
  • Use day-old French or Italian bread for the best texture and to avoid sogginess.
  • If fresh garlic is too strong, roast the garlic cloves before mixing for a milder flavor.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled or halved depending on serving size.
