Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup full-fat cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

For Cooking and Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon butter for brushing
  • Chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Blend Cottage Cheese and Eggs: In a blender or food processor, blend the cottage cheese and eggs until the mixture is completely smooth and silky, which ensures a creamy base for the dough.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, almond flour, baking powder, and salt, making sure these dry ingredients are well mixed to maintain an even dough consistency.
  3. Form the Dough: Pour the blended cottage cheese and egg mixture into the dry ingredients and gently stir until a sticky dough forms, which is ideal for shaping.
  4. Add Garlic: Mix the minced garlic evenly into the dough to infuse the naan with its signature garlicky flavor.
  5. Shape the Naan: Lightly flour your hands to prevent sticking, then divide the dough into small balls roughly the size of golf balls. Flatten each ball into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cook the Naan: Heat a non-stick or cast iron pan over medium heat. Brush it lightly with butter and cook each naan for 2–3 minutes on each side, until they turn golden brown and puff up slightly.
  7. Finish and Garnish: Brush the warm naan with extra melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro to add a fresh herbal note before serving.

Notes

  • Use full-fat cottage cheese for the best texture and flavor.
  • You can substitute the all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour for a fully gluten-free version but keep the baking powder to help with rising.
  • If you prefer a vegan version, you can try substituting eggs with flax eggs and dairy butter with plant-based butter, though texture may differ.
  • Cook the naan on medium heat to avoid burning while ensuring even cooking.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin or nigella seeds into the dough along with garlic.
