Ingredients

Scale

Banana Bread Batter

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Cinnamon Swirl

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and fully blended.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently just until combined without overmixing.
  4. Prepare Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar thoroughly to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  5. Layer Batter and Cinnamon Swirl: Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Evenly sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
  6. Create Swirl Effect: Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the cinnamon sugar through the batter in the pan to create an attractive marbled pattern.
  7. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60 to 70 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean. If the bread is browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil to prevent burning.
  8. Cool: Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and moist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For a nuttier flavor, you can add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • Make sure the loaf pan is properly greased to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
