Ingredients

Scale

Buffalo Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped

Wontons and Frying

  • 1 package of wonton wrappers (about 48 wrappers)
  • Cooking oil (for frying)
  • Ranch or blue cheese dressing (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, buffalo sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined to create a creamy, spicy filling.
  2. Fill the wontons: Lay a few wonton wrappers out on a clean surface. Place about a teaspoon of the buffalo chicken mixture in the center of each wrapper to avoid overfilling.
  3. Seal the wontons: Moisten the edges of each wonton wrapper with a little water to help seal them. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and firmly pinch the edges to seal. For an attractive finish, you may twist the edges for a decorative look.
  4. Heat the oil: Pour cooking oil into a deep frying pan or pot and heat it over medium-high heat until hot enough for frying (about 350°F or 175°C).
  5. Fry the wontons: Carefully place a few wontons at a time into the hot oil. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking.
  6. Drain and serve: Remove the cooked wontons with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve them hot alongside ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to control the spice level to your preference.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy wontons.
  • You can bake the wontons at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes for a healthier alternative.
  • Leftover filling can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
  • If you do not have ranch or blue cheese dressing, a simple sour cream dip can be used.
